*** RARE *** Earliest known Wisconsin State Patrol license plate from 1939 - 1941. Evidently each State Patrol Officer would purchase their own license plates until around 1951. This earlier style plate was painted black over the numbers, letters, and outer border, with the background color a deep yellow - orange color. This special license plate is made of embossed steel and measures approximately 13 1/2" long x 6 1/8" tall. On the left side of the plate there is a five point star over "WIS". In the center of the plate there is "STATE" over "TRAFFIC" over "PATROL". On the far right side of the plate the is "74".There is a total of eight mounting holes, 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom. This license plate has light surface dust, minor rust spots, and various paint chips on the front and back. The overall condition of this plate is good considering the age of this rare license plate.
