Description
Sony SRW-5800 HDCAM SR recorder(Picture of actual item for sale - not stock photo - more pictures at bottom)
This is a SRW-5800 HDCAM SR studio recorder, loaded with the three major options - HKSR-5001 format converter, HKSR-5802 HDCAM/digibeta playback, and HKSR-5803HQ advanced HQ 4:4:4 880Mbps processor board.
The SRW-5800 is the top-of-the-line most recent HDCAM SR VTR - a master format for movies, commercial productions, high-end TV, archiving, HD broadcast, etc. This is the only SR recorder that can work with 880 Mb/s high data bit rate and 1080/60P and 50P recording (unlike the SRW-5500). This records in HDCAM SR only (not HDCAM). The HDCAM SR format uses MPEG-4 Studio Profile with visually lossless compression. Powerful error-correcting technology and high-peformance heads with auto tracking technique allows for very reliable recording and playback. The SRW-5800/1 is capable of recording uncompressed audio, which makes it a vital tool for high-end audio archiving while being able to record non-audio data such as metadata information. 12-channel audio signal is recorded in 48-kHz 24-bit format. 1080 formats include 59.94i, 60i, 50i, 23.98PsF, 24PsF, 25PsF, 29.97PsF, 30PsF. Also has 720/59.94P and 50P. Additional features noiseless playback at variable speeds, confidence heads, advanced time code features with time code input/output, independent audio level control, tele-file memory label system, capstan override function, remote control operation, frame accurate assembly/insert editing, digital jog sound, signal generators, fine tuning of almost any parameter you can think of, and much much more.
The included HKSR-5803HQ option board makes the full power of this unit shine with its 880Mbps bit rate. Allows 4:4:4 full bandwidth signals in SQ (440Mbps BRR 4:1) and HQ (880Mbps BRR 2:1). Can do 60P and 50P at 4:2:2. Playback is now possible of 3D tapes record by SRW-5800 or SRW-1. Further allows 2x transfer to a specific server over HD-SDI dual link. Note this is dual-link compatible (3G-SDI is not available because this is the original SRW-5800 deck installed in it, not the SRW-5800/1). Meets the demands of high profile video studios, compositing suites, and digital mobile units. Ideal for purposes such as chroma keying, due to the massive amount of color information provided through its data stream. 4:4:4 footage is much easier to color correct during post.
This also has the HKSR-5802 HDCAM and digibeta playback option board installed. Can upconvert from digibeta to HD-SDI. HDCAM formats supported include 23.98P, 24P, 25P, 29.97P, 30PsF, 50i, 60i, 59.94i. If you have HDCAM and/or Digibeta tapes to play, you can use this SRW-5800 without the need for a seperate HDCAM and Digibeta deck!
Lastly this has the HKSR-5001 format converter option. Allows the deck to convert HDCAM and HDCAM SR to a wide variety of frame rates, resolutions, and color bit rates. Change HDCAM SR full color sources to 4:2:2 compressed HDCAM as well as convert 1080i to 720P cross conversion. 4:4:4 to 4:2:2 and 2-3 pull-down conversion capability. Adds tremendous versatility to your SRW series deck.
This has the three major options installed, making this a very powerful unit. Low original hours of use compared to most: Operation 4894, drum 1648, tape 1250, thread 4020. A few areas of paint wear on top, but overall in clean cosmetic condition. The latest firmware is installed, so it has all the feature improvements and bug fixes that entails. This also has had recent maintenance, including transport cleaning, adjustments, and replacement of the NVRAM batteries. These internal batteries are almost always dead or near-dead on these, causing malfunctions in the unit and not properly storing settings. When correctly replaced and reset, the unit will now work correctly and reliably. So this has not only been properly serviced and maintained, but fully tested in good working order with both HDCAM and HDCAM SR tape, with no functional defects or channel condition errors noted. All major functions, settings, features, and connections were tested thoroughly - not just a brief attempt to see if it plays a tape. This is a fully tested and maintained deck with all the option boards, newest firmware, and low original usage. There may be a cheaper unit out there, but you would be hard pressed to find a better example. This is a tremendous value for a fully loaded excellent condition SRW-5800 sold and tested by a knowledgable seller.

The following pertains to our listing terms and conditions. Please read so there is no surprises as to the total cost of your item or any of our polices:
Q. How much will I owe for sales tax?
A. If you are not in California, and have no business presence/nexus in California, no sales tax will be added. If you are California resident, 9.5% sales tax will automatically be added by the ebay system. This is the highest conceivable district tax rate. If your actual rate is less than this, it will be adjusted accordingly in your invoice before payment. If you've already paid, any overpayment will be refunded. The following is tax rates that California residents will be responsible for:
1) If you're in CA and have valid reseller's permit (and fill out reseller certificate): 0%
2) If you're in CA and using the equipment: 5% off your normal district tax rate via teleproduction partial exemption. You must fill out tax form 6378 to receive the sales tax discount. The equipment, and the nature of your business, must be predominantly related to post-production. EX: Your rate would be 4.5% if I delivered to Los Angeles county (which is normally 9.5%).
3) If you're in CA and don't qualify for the teleproduction partial exemption (i.e. you are a corporate user, hobbyist, rental company, this is predominantly production equipment, etc): must pay full district rate of the specific county item is delivered to or picked up from.

Q. What kind of warranty is offered?
A. All items include a 30 day warranty from date of delivery. Domestic returns are free unless the buyer causes the item to arrive back in worse condition than it was received (abuse, damage, tampering, modification, removal/replacement of parts, significant usage added, etc). We reserve right to issue a partial refund in the above “buyer fault” scenarios corresponding to the severity of the issue. Return shipping cost is paid by seller for domestic returns. International returns are for item not as described only and cost paid by buyer. A partial refund, replacement, or repair is possible as alternative to return, at the agreement of both parties. Item must be returned packaged well in the same manner sent so it arrives back safely. Refund issued by same method as payment. A free copy of our full warranty terms/conditions can be obtained upon request.
Q. What happens if the gear arrives with shipping damage?
A. The Broadcast Baron takes meticulous care in packaging the items it ships and each item will be fully insured. However, in the unlikely event that shipping damage or loss does occur, you will not be held financially responsible. Regardless of whether the shipping company eventually pays us or not on the insurance claim, we honor the 30 day warranty. We would only ask that you fully cooperate with the insurance claim and save all the original packaging.
Q. Do you sell to international buyers?
A. Yes, but not every item we sell can ship to every country. Please look at ebay's shipping and handling section (below the auction) to see which countries each particular item can be shipped to.
Q. How much is domestic shipping?
A. For most items, free shipping (including insurance) via FEDEX ground or USPS priority is included in the purchase price to any of the 48 states. Please take note if a particular item specifies free shipping or not. If you need anything faster, you will be responsible for the additional cost. Feel free to contact us for an express service shipping quote. Express shipping can also be billed to your own UPS/FEDEX/DHL account if you prefer.
Q. How much is international shipping (including Alaska and Hawaii)?
A. Buyer is responsible for actual shipping costs. Default shipping method to international locations is USPS express. Please use the USPS shipping calculator or contact us to get a shipping quote. USPS has different dimensional restrictions for different countries. It may turn out that your item, once packaged, is too large to use USPS service. Also, some items are too valuable to be able to be fully insured by USPS (also this varies by country). If this is the case, you will be given the option to use FEDEX instead and given an appropriate quote for FEDEX international costs. International shipping prices vary greatly depending on your location. Please contact us before bidding for a precise shipping quote and confirmation that the item meets the size/value requirements to go USPS. Please note that any customs charges, taxes, or duties levied by your country is your responsibility.
