15” Toodles Infant 1958 in a long nylon organdy Christening Gown by American Character is part of the Toodles line of dolls that includes a wide-eyed baby doll and the toddler or little girl body that’s most often seen.
This baby has pink cheeks and lips, blue sleep eyes and black lashes. Deeply molded brown hair. Heavy vinyl body, jointed arms and legs. Has a squeaker in her back that still works well.
Marked on back of head “American Character Doll / 1958”
White nylon and lace baptism or Christening gown and matching bonnet. Dress features pintucks and lace. It is trimmed with white ribbons and white rosettes. Underneath she wears a full slip, undershirt and white panties as well as a rubber diaper, which I almost forgot to put back on her.
Condition Issues
: She had a
musty
smell when she arrived. I wiped down the doll and dipped the clothes in a very gentle bath of cold water and doll clothes cleaner. Doll retains a lite smell but outfit is fresh.
Chips in lip paint. Eyes had a little film on them and it came right off but I can still see some on the eye below where I could get it with a q-tip. Light stain on back of slip.
Missing a button on her undershirt. Elastic brittle on sleeves and panties. Rubber diaper has some brown stains from age around the snaps.
