Vintage American Character Whimsies Doll "HILDA THE HILLBILLY" NMIB -A Must See!

Up for auction is a darling
Whimsie character doll,
"Hilda the Hillbilly" from 1960 in her original correctly marked box. She is 23" long, and has a stuffed vinyl body, signed on the head: American Doll and Toy Corp. She has long, bright orange rooted hair with bangs (no hair trimmed). Her hair is tied in pigtails with yellow ribbons as shown in the pictures. Her facial coloring is great with lots of freckles, big brown eyes, molded eyelids, large smiling mouth and a swivel neck. She wears her original red dress, checked apron, scarf and matching panties and shoes and they are all in very good to excellent condition. The dress and apron are free of any stains, repairs or odors and the color is very even. The tears in the dress are original and intentional as part of the look. She was also called "Raggie" in a 1961 American Character brochure.  The scarf does have a few age spots but they are very faint. The bloomers are excellent with nice tight stretch to the elastic. Her corn cob pipe is perfect as are her shoes.  Hilda's body is in great condition and just has one area on the upper right leg where the stuffing has settled in and created a bit of a dent. You can see this in the pictures above. It is really not bad and the bloomers cover it nicely. Hilda's box is in very good condition with just normal wear and tear. She also comes with her original tag around her neck. You can see her on pages 160 and 163, "American Character Dolls"-Izen. All together this is a great HTF doll that will be a stand out in any Whimsies collection.
